Middle School
At Centner Academy, the learning seeps beyond the classrooms’ walls and into the real world. Our teachers craft lessons that are authentic, complex, relevant, and engaging. Our middle schoolers do real work as authors, artists, inventors, explorers, athletes, and mathematicians. Our students are treated with respect and held accountable as we strive to cultivate grit and harness intrinsic motivation. With mindfulness and emotional intelligence at the helm, we believe that student learning is more accessible and profound.
Through an interdisciplinary and inquiry-based program, students discover skills in academic disciplines while learning to grapple with the unknown, embrace multiple perspectives, and create innovative solutions. Students explicitly develop social and emotional skills that promote self-confidence, emotional intelligence, positive communication, and collaboration with classes like Life Skills.
Our students are encouraged to not only find but to use their voice. We want our middle schoolers to celebrate accomplishments and understand failure, as it is always a learning lesson. We believe that by highlighting real-world connections, reinforcing empathy, and keeping high standards, our students will graduate inspired to take-on high school and beyond. We believe empathetic, gritty, and confident citizens possess the ability to change the world.

Project Based Learning
Our middle schoolers participate in Science Fair, Mock Trials, Earth Day, Math World Wide Competitions, and Entrepreneurship Activities to help them learn in the real world, not just in classrooms.
Social Emotional Learning
Centner Academy is leverages conscious discipline and focuses on mindfulness throughout the school day. All of our classrooms have Zen Zones for meditation and our middle schoolers actively participate in Big Life journaling to help them reflect and grow.
Differentiated Instruction
We believe in meeting children where they are and helping them grow from there, in middle school, this shows through our focus on ability grouping and on content acceleration for students who are ready to take the next steps in their learning.
Cross-Curricular Instruction
Our faculty help students connect their learning across subjects by using a literature-based curriculum, and real world mathematics. Our six available language programs also integrate cultural education to help our students develop empathy for people across the world.
